Falling leaves and gathering pumpkins.
Leilani stopped by for a visit. That almost sounds like she doesn't live 2 states away! We had fun playing in and raking the beautiful leaves from the maple trees that line our street.
Last weekend we went with Shannon (who also stopped by on a weekend away from CSUMB) to join us for a visit to the apple orchards for apples, cider, doughnuts, and pumpkins!

"And Now, the Rest of the Story". We filled, and Laura body-compacted, 4 or 5 big bags of leaves, which we then nearly stacked on the driveway awaiting the impending Monday pick-up by the City.
After running a couple errands, we arrived back home to find the neighbor boys playing(and burrowing) into a big 3-foot pile of leaves. "How cute" we both said.... until Kevin pointed out that OUR bags of leaves were no longer sitting 30 feet further down on the curb! And yes, in order for the boys to empty OUR leaves, they had shredded and were now wearing, the big orange bags over their heads like some sort of Halloween costume. Laura's response:"That's OK. We'll just wait until Kim gets back Home and sees them....she'll take care of it!" And yes, Kim was quite flabbergasted at what they had done, and promised they'd be spending the next two days(which were school Holidays)raking and bagging everything back up. We decided next year, we'd rake the leaves up in a big pile and INVITE them to play to their hearts' delight BEFORE bagging the leaves. ( And it didn't help much when the neighbor across the street later informed us he'd watched while the boys had rung the door bell to ask our permission before taking the leaves...."So it's not really their fault you weren't Home!" :) Fun stuff, to watch many of the neighborhood kids continue to jump/roll/tunnel through the leaves for the remaining 2 days of my trip. For all I know, the leaves could still be there..... ;)
