For Grandma

Holiday lights

The lights as a symbol to celebrate the holidays seem to be a very big thing in Utah. So this is our modest effort. I'll be posting more extraordinary examples of excess so stay tuned.

more fun, more snow

Large beautiful snowflakes

Handsome and definitely cold Taxi. "What is going on here?"

Making snow angels, our neighbors - Ethan (right), Kim (center), and Colby (left).

Hooping!

The boys just had to break out the hoola hoop. It's a Thanksgiving day tradition from way back!

Ry - I'm so sorry you had to head home early for work and missed this. And, why didn't we have the video going?

November Excitement

Nice hair Ry! You asked for it!

Kids were here for Thanksgiving. What a treat! We had a great visit with everyone. Good food, football, walks to the park, and a trip to Hidden Peak on the tram at Snowbird. It was 10 degrees, very windy, and VERY COLD!!! Tara and I had to hide in a protected and sunny corner to keep warm.

Halloween '07

Our first Halloween in our new home. Let's start with a graveyard and a few jack-o-lanterns. Don't know how many kids to anticipate. But we're ready for a fun evening with the goblins. You'll also notice that I painted the little white metal fence around the front garden a darker gray. I think it looks nice, and a bit spooky. It certainly goes with the graveyard look.

And, you can see that the boston ivy on the front of our house is starting to change color near the top and on the chimney. It will all go away during the winter and come back out in spring. It will be interesting to see how that changes the look of the house.

Shannon's pumpkin

My pumpkin

Kevin's pumpkin

Falling leaves and gathering pumpkins.

Leilani stopped by for a visit. That almost sounds like she doesn't live 2 states away! We had fun playing in and raking the beautiful leaves from the maple trees that line our street.

Last weekend we went with Shannon (who also stopped by on a weekend away from CSUMB) to join us for a visit to the apple orchards for apples, cider, doughnuts, and pumpkins!

October snow

Here is what I woke up to this beautiful morning of October 18!!!

And then I actually went outside. Taxi would have nothing to do with it so you will see no pictures of him playing in the snow.

My car actually has snow on it. I think it will be going in to the garage VERY soon!

found cabinet

Here is the old, but perfectly so, wine cabinet that we found for dining room.

missing art

The blank space above the fireplace is longing for the perfect piece of art. I'm searching. Tara gave us a beautiful house warming gift of a map of Sea Ranch. It's being framed. It might be there. We're also interested a piece by James C. Leonard. I think he is from the bay area and is doing some work showing aspen trees through a process of layering and removing paint. Stay tuned.

The only way to greet the first snow

September 27!!!! That's the day of our first snow in Salt Lake City. And the day that I first drove in snow. Ick!!! It was very cold. 34 degrees! We were out running errands and all of the sudden there it was..SNOW!

Sheryl and I jumped into the hot tub as soon as we got home. Kevin brought out champagne. All was good.

Chip and the cherry tree

Chip is finally relaxing! He looks relaxed, doesn't he? He no longer does the helicopter when you pick him up. This move was not easy for him. Most of all he misses the stairway window and his view on the world.

This lovely cherry tree is going to continue to grow old thanks to Shannon for cleaning ALL of the english ivy away that was strangling it. It's a cool old tree that provides nice shade to our backyard. I'm so happy that we don't have to have it cut down. Thank you so much Shannon!!

Chip has nothing really to do with the cherry tree...I just like the way it sounds together!

Meet my neighbor Kim, and her dog, Sugar. Kim is very nice and very helpful. Taxi and Sugar get along very well. They'd love to go somewhere and run! Kim has a family. Her husband Matt, and 3 kids. We'll have pictures of them later.
