Our temporary apartment
The empty house
The big truck
You'll notice that the guys in this shot all have their backs to me. I went outside and asked if I could take a picture of everyone before they started loading the truck. It was a different set of guys from the packers. The loaders all turned and started to walk away very quickly. Do you recognize any of these guys from "wanted" posters?
Leaving Pleasanton
It took 3 days to pack and load everything that we own onto this very large Mayflower truck. The driver, Gustavo did a great job. With all of the guys that were there to pack and load, after a few hours, it felt like they were doing you a favor rather than doing their job. It got a bit old. But in the end everything made it onto the truck and drove away on Wednesday evening.
We spent a couple of days in the empty house sleeping on the floor. It was very lonely and sad. Ryan and Tara were wonderful to come over and join us on our last night. Tara did the most generous thing. She stayed and the house and left in the morning after we drove away. It made it not so difficult to leave. We just waved good-bye to her and were on our way to Salt Lake City.
